I'm getting frustrated with OME. Every (basic) function I try, ends up in a long exercise troubleshooting the cause for it. Far too many protocols and ports in use for my taste.
Anyhow, my latest issue, in case somebody else runs into it as well.
I'm using the Sample Task 'Power on' and let it run against 4x M520 with latest and greatest iDRAC. IPMI is now enabled without key (even though it's everything but clear that this is a prepreq for this task).
The DELL Troubleshooting tool is happy with my IPMI settings, and I also downloaded the separate tool BMC to connect to (troubleshooting). That was a mistake. That installs an old version (7.3 instead of 8.0 in my case) of ipmitool.exe without any warning. The result is following:
Ausgabe von Befehl (stderr): 2 [main) ipmitool 1788 findjast_cwd: WARNING: Couldn’t compute FAST_CWD pointer. Please report this problem I
the public mailing list cygwin@cygwin.com
Error: Unable to establish IPMI v2 / RMCP+ session
Unable to set Chassis Power Control to Up/On
After removing the wrong BMC I can now get to the DRAC without key. The challenge with the key is not yet solved.
P.S. I'm not a fan of German Error messages, but OME is 'super intelligent' and of course needs to translate certain things to my keyboard language (no OS or User Language !)
