Hi,
The company I work for is a Dell reseller and we help to manage many different Dell PowerEdge servers for various clients. Most of our clients are small businesses with only one server. We are looking for a way to remotely and easily update Dell firmware and drivers on these servers. We are currently using Dell SUU for the drivers updates and the iDRAC/Lifecycle Controller for the firmware updates. This update process is very slow.
I was hoping to deploy Dell OME onto each server to do all the updates with, but I have not been able to get it to work. I believe this is due to OME not being able to update the same server it is installed on. I’m currently using WS-Man and WMI to successfully discover the iDRAC and the associated T430 that has OME installed onto it. The server has the latest version of OMA and OME installed on it as well and the firewall is turned off.
When I try to run updates though, the system updates, the task fails and I get an “Unable to connect to the remote system error”. I've worked with Dell basic hard support engineers on this issue, but haven’t been able to come up with a solution or work around for this problem. Any suggestions or help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Walt
