I want to try out OME as a free software tool to alert me (via email) when hardware faults occur on any of my client's Dell PowerEdge servers. I do have OMSA agent installed on some of their ESXi 4.1 hosts and can use the web tool to view their virtual servers. BUT, OMSA does not offer the ability to alert via email on detected problems. There is a tab for Alert Management, but when I click on it it says:
This feature is not available on this system due to operating system or hardware limitations. Refer to the online help for more information
When I've Googled this subject of using OMSA and alerts, most people suggest to use OME. Will it allow me to get alerts via email?
Anyway, back to the problem at hand: why won't this latest version of OME (I think it's 2.2) install on the guest OS, which is Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise (FULL edition, ***not*** CORE)? From what I've Googled, OME needs to run as a 32 bit program and the FULL version of Win Server 2008 R2 is 64 bit only? I saw plenty of tips that said to install WoW64 - but that's not an available feature on this os as far as I can tell. Very confused...
