So Ive managed to get most everything working the way I like.
Last issue Im having is configuring working/correct email alerts.
Im using ESXi 5.0 U2 on all of my servers/blades. Im using WS-Man to connect to the iDRAC address of each of these hosts and am receiving all of the information I need about the server. If I pull a PS or open the chassis, I get a health status warning within the portal, which is good; as expected. However I do not receive an email (although its configured).
Question: Do I need to have the VIB installed on all servers in order to receive email alerts for an ESXi host?
My conclusion is no. I see this because I receive "fake" alerts every night about a server or two. These alerts state: Server xxxx is down - Critical State . However the server is clearly up. So clearly email alerting is working, but I do not receive the emails when I have a planned PS unplug or any intended event to trigger an email alert.
All DSM services are started and working. Ive even tried a reboot of the system.
I cannot locate a bin directory with log files.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
