Internet Explorer has stopped working when lauching Essentials

All,

I get an Internet Explorer has stopped working when lauching Essentials 1.1.  Event Viewer shows an Application Error Event ID 1000 Task Category 100.  I tried a fresh install with the same outcome.  Does anyone know what might cause this problem?  I'm running this on Server 2008 R2 Standard 64 bit OS.
