OpenManage Essentials (OME) has a versatile search that can find devices, ranges, tasks, wizards and navigation portals. Using the search bar helps you find what you need, fast. Here are some tips for using the search bar in OME.
Search for a device by the device’s name
When you discover hundreds or thousands of devices, it can be hard to find one device in the device tree. If you know the device’s name, it’s easy in OME. Simply click the search bar in the upper right hand corner of OME (the white bar that says ‘Search device, ranges, and more…). Start typing the device name. The drop down shows any devices, ranges, wizards, tasks or navigation portals that match the entered text. When you see the device in the drop down, click on the device. The search bar will redirect you to the device tree and select the device.
Search for a device by the device’s service tag
If you forget a device name, don’t worry, you can search for it using the OME search bar. Type the service tag in the search bar and the device with the service tag will be shown in the search bar selection. Click the device and the search bar will redirect you to the device tree and select the device.
Search for a wizard by the wizard’s name and launch the wizard
Any common task wizard can be launched from the search bar. Type the wizard name or what you want to create in the search bar and you can launch any OME common task wizard. For example, ‘Add Discovery Range’ or ‘Discovery Range’ will launch the add discovery range wizard. Search for ‘Alert’ and you can launch any of the alert wizards just by clicking on the search item.
