Scheduling consistence checks for all virtual disks for multiple servers.

Hello all,

The case I am currently working on is about scheduling monthly consistence checks on multiply (500+) various PowerEdge servers for all existing virtual disks. Most of them have some kind of PERC controller, some has few of them, some has also various SAS HBAs for connection with MD**** storage. Most of them have windows and OMSA, but not all (some are esxi hosts or red hat machines). There is also working Open Manage Essentials solution in environment.

From information from here and here looks like scheduling using windows tasks is the way to go. I have few thoughts, questions about it.

1) Preparing script for task will be take some time. It will have to find existing controllers and virtual disks IDs as using * as id is not an option. Then script will have to prepare and run omconfig commands, which should not be a problem. But I will have to test if such script works for all controllers types which will be time consuming. Some of them are quite old and I am not sure if all servers will acceptomconfig storage vdisk action=checkconsistency controller=id vdisk=id command. Anything I forgot about the script?

2) Any objections against running consistency checks on all virtual disks at once? Performance degradation wouldn't be an issue, as it will be running when there is suppose to be no load.

3) What about esxi and red hat machines? I am personally responsible only for windows machines, but it will be good to know how to handle others.

3) Any other approach I could use? Maybe OME remote tasks feature?
