I'm trying to use OpenManage to update BIOS on an ESXi host.
I'm new to OpenManage and have been working on getting it set up on a test server I have access to in preparation to setting it up on our production servers. I'm working on a PE2950 as my test server. I have ESXi 5.1 running on the 2950 with 1 Server 2012 vm.
I've set up OpenManage 1.1.1 on a separate Server 2008 R2 box, and have the 7.2 OMSA VIBs intalled on the 2950.
I've been able to get the PE2950 to show up in discover and inventory. When I look at the OpenManage Essentials console, Devices tab, I see it listed under Servers and also under VMWare ESX Servers.
When I examine the Details I see fairly comprehensive information of what is in the box, so it appears that the inventory and discovery process is working fine. When I look at the Firmware Information I see that the BIOS is 2.5.0. So one of the first things I want to test out is updating BIOS using OpenManage.
When I go to Manage -> System Update I have imported the catalog for system update. The task shows as complete but the successful.total targets shows as 0/0. When i click the compliant systems, non-compliant systems and non-inventoried systems I don't see my 2950 anywhere. Since I can't get it to show up here I can't figure out how to proceed with the BIOS update task.
What am I missing?
